Prime Minister Jafar Hassan visited the mourning house of martyred Jordanian soldier Jawad Al-Salaytah on Sunday in the Northern Mushairfeh area of Umm Al-Rasas District, where he offered condolences to the martyr’s family and relatives.
The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of Al-Salaytah, as well as to all Jordanians. He stressed that the Jordanian state, under its Hashemite leadership and through its various security agencies and institutions, would show no tolerance in confronting terrorists and extremist groups on security, legislative, intellectual, and societal fronts, in order to protect society and citizens from what he described as misguided extremist ideology and its heinous crimes.
Hassan also referred to the Cabinet’s decision, taken earlier on Sunday, to begin amending a package of laws and legislation related to terrorism cases and to increase and toughen the penalties imposed for such crimes. He described the move as a fundamental and important step in combating terrorism and extremism and protecting society from their dangers.
The Prime Minister was accompanied during the visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri, and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Affairs Abdul Latif Al-Najdawi.
