Gov’t approves amendments to Constitution, elections, parties bills

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday approved a draft amendment to the Constitution, including recommendations proposed by the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System and additional amendments proposed by the government.اضافة اعلان

In the session, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the Cabinet also approved the draft law on the Lower House of Parliament elections, and the political parties draft law, according to the committee’s recommendations.

During the next few days, the government will refer the draft amendments to the Lower House to complete the procedures for approval, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to foundations of drilling saline ground wells in the Jordan Valley area, based on a decision by the Water Authority’s board of directors.

The amendment aims to support the agricultural sector in the Jordan Valley area and provide additional quantities of water to enhance agricultural production.

In the session, the ministers also approved a set of decisions related to electricity, the agricultural sector, and lowering fees on buildings.
Furthermore, the Cabinet appointed Zaher Qatarneh as secretary-general of the Ministry of Investment.
