The minister’s directives emphasized strict adherence to approved and medically recognized treatment protocols, based on clear standards that ensure patient safety and continuity of medical care. Stroke cases are to be managed in hospitals staffed with neurology specialists—whether from the ministry’s own personnel or contracted physicians—according to these approved protocols.
As for hospitals that do not have on-call neurology specialists, coverage will be provided by on-call neurologists from the nearest hospitals, in accordance with approved schedules, while ensuring that treatment is delivered under the same standardized protocols.
In cases that require transferring patients to other hospitals, this will be carried out through direct coordination with the on-call neurology specialist, in a manner that guarantees patient safety and the continuity of optimal medical care.
This protocol comes as part of a plan developed by the Ministry of Health two months ago, aimed at establishing clear frameworks and unified treatment protocols for both cerebral and cardiac strokes, in addition to standardizing cancer treatment protocols across all medical sectors.
