2.2 million students head to school; 18,000 on waiting list

AMMAN — About 2.2 million students enrolled in more than 7,000 schools across the Kingdom started their 2022/2023 school year on Wednesday. For the first time since COVID-19 health measures were adopted, the rotation system will be dropped. Furthermore, there will be no distance restrictions in classrooms, and remote education will only be available to students infected with the coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Education.اضافة اعلان

Last week, 173,000 teachers and administrators began working to prepare for the new school year. First classes will begin on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 15,733 students transferred from private to public schools and 8,777 students transferred from public to private ones, according to ministry sources.

Consequently, more than 18,000 students are not officially enrolled in school and are on the waiting list to be admitted.

The period for allowing students to transfer between schools will expire at the end of September, according the ministry.
