AMMAN — The national gymnastics team's player, Ahmad Abu Al
Soud, secured his spot in the finals of the parallel bar’s competition at the
World Gymnastics Championship held in the city of Antwerp, Belgium, on Sunday.
Soud successfully advanced to the final round along with
seven other players after earning a total score of 14.900 points, placing
fourth out of 140 participants in the parallel bars event, Al Ghad reported.
He is scheduled to compete in the final on October 7.
Notably, only one athlete from the parallel bar’s competition will qualify for
the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Currently, Soud is the silver medalist from the previous
World Championship, which took place in Liverpool, UK last year. At that time,
he became the first Arab athlete to secure a medal in the history of the World
Gymnastics Championships.
