Regional Governor Alexander Shovayev said on the government-backed MAX platform that “six civilians were killed and four others were wounded, including a child.” He said the strike hit the town of Koloskovo, about 15 kilometers from the border.

More than four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, diplomatic efforts have reached an impasse, while tensions between the two countries have intensified amid an escalation in long-range strikes, resulting in a growing number of civilian casualties.

Twelve people were killed in Russia on Sunday in Ukrainian attacks involving hundreds of drones, while Russian strikes killed seven people in Ukraine.

Moscow and Kyiv have intensified attacks behind the front lines as fighting along the battlefield has largely reached a stalemate and negotiations have stalled, pushing civilian casualties to their highest levels since the early months of the war in 2022.
