Al-Faisaly Football Club's delegation heads to Qatar today, ahead of the start of its AFC Champions League Two campaign, with the team opening its continental journey against a tough Al-Rayyan side in the tournament's opening round.

Al-Faisaly hope for a successful Asian debut, aiming to return from Qatar with a positive result that boosts its chances of securing one of the group's two qualification spots, in a group that looks tough given the presence of Qatar's Al-Rayyan, Saudi Arabia's Al-Taawoun, and Oman's Al-Nahda, alongside Al-Faisaly.
Al-Faisaly's technical staff, led by Egyptian coach Tarek Mostafa, approached the team's match against Dhofar, held two days ago at Amman Stadium in the Pro League's second round, with specific tactical considerations in mind, given the approaching Asian clash against Al-Rayyan.
During the match, Mostafa made a point of fielding as many players as possible, aiming to give them playing time and prepare the entire squad both technically and physically, ensuring the team arrives at the Al-Rayyan match in better shape, especially with an Asian commitment ahead that demands the highest levels of focus and readiness. The Dhofar match saw the participation of Hossam Abu Al-Thahab, returning from the injury he sustained while representing the national team against Argentina at the World Cup finals, alongside new Palestinian signing Camilo Saldana, Wassim Al-Rayalat, Malek Allan, Rizq Bani Hani, and Omani professional Salah Al-Yahyai, who made his first start with the team in the match.
By contrast, the technical staff opted to rest a number of key starting players during the match, chief among them Ihsan Haddad, Ahmad Al-Arsan, and Mohammad Haddad, as part of the rotation policy Mostafa has followed, aiming to spare players the risk of fatigue or injury and keep them ready for the Asian clash.
Al-Faisaly's 2-0 lead by the end of the first half against Dhofar also gave the technical staff more room to manage the second half with greater ease, easing the physical load on the players, making further substitutions, and giving as many squad members as possible a chance to play.
Moves to Bring in a New Striker
Separately, Al-Faisaly's temporary committee continues its efforts to bring in a new striker, to replace Ivorian professional Wilfried Eza, whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement with the club, following the ACL and cartilage injury he sustained during the match against Al-Wehdat in the Pro League's opening round.
Al-Faisaly hasn't been able to officially register or sign a replacement player before Eza is cleared from the club's roster, which requires completing the procedures for the player's transfer to another club, as he nears finalizing his next destination in the near future. In parallel, the temporary committee continues its work in the transfer market, holding more than one option for a striker who could be signed to replace Eza, pending resolution of the current player's file and completion of his transfer procedures, after which the most suitable name will be chosen to strengthen the team's attacking line going forward.
Al-Ghad has learned that the temporary committee has made significant progress on the new striker file, and is now in advanced stages of negotiations with a foreign club to acquire Ivorian player Eza's registration, pending resolution of a few remaining details in the coming days, ahead of completing the deal should a final agreement be reached.
Temporary committee member Abdul Mohsen Al-Maaytah has put in considerable effort in negotiations with Eza, successfully reaching an agreement to reduce part of the financial dues owed to him by the club, ahead of finalizing the mutual contract termination procedures, easing the financial burden on Al-Faisaly during the current period.
