According to the plan, reviewed by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), it is based on a clear legal framework derived from the Industry and Trade Law No. (18) of 1998 and the Consumer Protection Law No. (7) of 2017. The plan employs a range of regulatory and supervisory tools to ensure market stability and safeguard the rights of all parties in the commercial sectors.
Under the plan, daily inspection activities will be divided into two monitoring shifts during the first half of Ramadan, and three shifts during the second half. These will include morning and evening inspections, as well as late-night rounds—especially after the middle of the holy month—to ensure market stability and the availability of goods for citizens.
The inspection tours will cover monitoring prices and the availability of commodities, following up on clearance sales, discounts, and promotional offers, receiving consumer complaints, issuing violations against offenders, and referring them to the judiciary in accordance with the law.
Regarding the outcomes of meetings with partners, the ministry explained that agricultural production of vegetables is good, despite seasonal variation during the winter due to weather conditions. It confirmed that sufficient quantities are available in the markets, with expectations of improved production and lower prices at the beginning of Ramadan, coinciding with the start of the new agricultural season.
The ministry also pointed to coordination with the Specialized Union of Poultry Producers to gradually increase production by up to 30 percent before Ramadan and during the Eid al-Fitr period to meet rising demand. In addition, consumer corporations have boosted strategic stocks of essential goods, monitored global price developments, ensured the regular operation of supply chains, and carried out daily monitoring of inventories.
The ministry further affirmed that it has strengthened market inspection teams and coordinated with administrative governors to facilitate monitoring operations, in addition to holding sectoral meetings with traders and importers of food commodities. (Petra)
