The President of the Textile, Readymade Garments, and Footwear Syndicate, Sultan Allan, stated on Tuesday that the majority of goods imported for the Eid Al-Adha season have arrived in the markets, with only a small portion still in the customs clearance phase. He confirmed that there are no shortages of any goods in the local markets.

Allan told Al-Mamlaka that purchasing activity for Eid Al-Adha has not yet begun, though he expects demand to rise in the coming days as the holiday approaches.
Shipping and Regional Challenges
Regarding regional events, he noted that an alternative plan was implemented by importing goods early to avoid delays in shipments from Asian markets. He explained that the financial impact of shipping costs will not significantly reflect on market prices.
Allan added that many shipping lines have avoided the Bab al-Mandab Strait, opting instead for the Cape of Good Hope route, which has increased shipping times by approximately 15 days.
Local Products and Palestinian Markets
He clarified that regional circumstances have not noticeably impacted the demand for local products. However, he pointed out an improvement in the demand for Jordanian products in Palestinian markets, attributing this to travel difficulties within the West Bank.
Postal Parcels Warning
Concerning postal parcels (online shopping), Allan warned of increasing disruptions due to high air freight costs and the inability of air transport to keep up with the volume of parcels. He advised citizens against ordering goods via postal parcels at this time, citing heightened risks due to regional conditions.
He further noted that the disruption of several postal parcels during the previous Eid Al-Fitr had a significant positive impact on demand within the local market. He called for a re-evaluation of the mechanisms for handling postal parcels to ensure a fair tax burden between goods imported via parcels and those sold in local markets.
