The sons and daughters of this country need no introduction, do not wait for a certificate of belonging, and require no classification or geographical categorization. The homeland is greater than names and too profound to be reduced to one group, one entity or one narrative.

The homeland is not merely a nationality one holds, a lineage one boasts about, or an ancestry used as a privilege over others. Belonging to a country is demonstrated through one’s positions and affirmed through one’s actions. The people of the homeland are all those who carry it in their hearts, think of its interests, work diligently to serve it, safeguard its land, preserve its history, protect its present and act as trusted stewards of its future. Serving it with one’s own hands is an honour; for those who cannot do so and have nothing but a loyal heart to offer, that is the least one can do in faithfulness.
We are not here to divide people, issue certificates of patriotism or appoint ourselves guardians of other people’s consciences and origins. Homelands are not safeguarded by excluding their people, nor are they built by inflaming divisions. They are protected by awareness, justice, work and sincerity, when the public interest takes precedence over narrow calculations.
We do not deny anyone the right to take pride in the achievements and sacrifices of their forefathers. Such a legacy deserves appreciation. But one unavoidable question remains: What have we contributed ourselves? It is unjust to lean on the glories of those who came before us and then use them as a means of looking down on others. The greatness of our ancestors does not grant their descendants immunity from accountability, and past glory does not absolve us of responsibility in the present.
As for those who spread poison among the people of this country from within, or sow it from abroad while claiming to care about its interests, we will neither accept nor celebrate their actions. Yet we must not confuse claims with deeds, or slogans with facts. Anyone who strikes at the heart of the nation and seeks to weaken it or tear apart its social fabric cannot be excused by lineage, history or claims of religious devotion. Even if that person’s great-great-grandfather laid a stone in the country’s foundations, that ancestor deserves respect. But the greatness of a forefather cannot compensate for a descendant’s narrow-mindedness, harmful actions and hatred.
We must distinguish between those who expose genuine wrongdoing, substantiate their claims with evidence and seek reform, and those who fabricate rumours, spread discord and undermine trust among people. Responsible criticism can protect a country from dysfunction, while deliberate disinformation opens the door to danger. What matters is conduct and evidence, not ancestry or claims of belonging.
The people of the homeland are those who safeguard it, not those who monopolize its name, whatever title follows their own. They are those who serve it, not those who use its history as a cover for their own interests, trading and accumulating wealth and property at its expense. The homeland is not responsible for proving our patriotism; we are responsible to it for demonstrating the sincerity of our belonging.
If our grandparents or parents, whatever their names, built this country through their sweat and sacrifices, what will we build, and what will we leave to future generations? Will we leave them a homeland whose history we honour and whose future we protect, or merely glories to celebrate while our actions tear down what previous generations built?
