Engineer Mohannad Abbas Haddadin, General Manager of the Jobkins Center for Strategic Studies and an expert in strategic and economic analysis, stated that amid ongoing divisions within the U.S. Federal Reserve—lasting for over 32 years—two members recently voted in favor of cutting interest rates. However, Chairman Jerome Powell insisted on maintaining the current rate and dismissed any consideration of a cut at this stage.

This decision is based on the fact that inflation remains below the target but continues to rise steadily. Despite this, inflation has not reached levels that would justify a rate cut. Such a stance may create significant friction between the U.S. government and the Federal Reserve. Could we be witnessing a sudden dismissal of the Fed Chairman?
Powell has spent the past three years attempting to bring inflation down to 2%, a goal that, in Haddadin’s view, remains difficult to achieve—even by the end of 2026.
