Media reports indicated that Netanyahu is expected to visit Argentina in September, though the Argentine government has not confirmed the visit.

The complaint, filed by Argentine human rights lawyer Rodolfo Yanzon and Palestinian Center for Human Rights Director Raji Sourani, stated:
“It is well known that Netanyahu bears criminal responsibility as an accomplice in the commission of a war crime, namely the deliberate starvation of civilians to death, in addition to crimes against humanity such as murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”

The lawyers are demanding Netanyahu’s arrest in Argentina and an investigation into Israeli political and military authorities over an incident on March 23 in which 15 people were killed. The complaint noted that among the victims were several aid workers helping those affected by an earlier bombing.

The Argentine newspaper Clarín reported on Friday that Netanyahu might instead seek to meet Argentine President Javier Milei while both are in New York later next month to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

In early August, the State Workers’ Association and the human rights group HIJOS also submitted an arrest request for Netanyahu to Argentina’s federal courts.

Netanyahu faces mounting global pressure over Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, which has killed thousands of Palestinians and displaced most of the enclave’s population.

Israel is facing genocide charges before the International Court of Justice, while the International Criminal Court has issued a separate arrest warrant for Netanyahu on allegations of war crimes in Gaza.
