The US Department of Defense announced that the State Department has approved a $9 billion sale of Patriot missiles to Saudi Arabia.

The State Department’s approval came in response to a request submitted by Saudi Arabia to purchase 730 missiles of this type.

The Department of Defense added that the proposed sale “will not alter the military balance in the Middle East and will not have any adverse impact on US defense readiness.”
