This attack comes amid escalating settler assaults on Palestinians and their property in Jericho and the northern Jordan Valley.

Widespread Arrests

In the early hours of Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces arrested 20 Palestinians, including a young woman and former prisoners, during wide-scale raids across different areas of the occupied West Bank. Homes were raided, searched, and vandalized, and some residents were detained, subjected to field interrogations, and mistreated.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club reported that Israeli forces stormed multiple areas in the West Bank amid heavy gunfire, arresting 20 individuals on alleged security-related charges.

Al-Aqsa Incursions

Dozens of Jewish settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque (the Haram al-Sharif) via the Mughrabi Gate under tight Israeli police protection on the second day of the so-called Jewish “Hanukkah” festival.

These incursions were carried out in response to extremist calls by the so-called “Temple Groups” for mass Al-Aqsa raids in celebration of the holiday.

The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that settlers organized provocative tours inside the mosque’s courtyards, performed Talmudic rituals in its eastern area, and received briefings about the alleged Temple.

Israeli forces tightened restrictions on Palestinian worshippers and residents, confiscating IDs at the mosque entrances, preventing them from using settler pathways, and erecting checkpoints around Al-Aqsa and the Old City to secure the incursions.

House Demolitions

In addition, Israeli forces demolished a two-story house in Deir Qadis village, west of Ramallah, home to over 10 people, built 15 years ago.

Bulldozers also demolished a house in Rafat town northwest of Jerusalem under the pretext of lacking permits, according to the Rafat Municipal Council.
