Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday ordered a strong military response against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, following an attack on Israeli forces attributed to the group.

In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said:
“Following Hamas’s violation of the ceasefire, Prime Minister Netanyahu held consultations with the Defense Minister and senior security officials and instructed them to take strong action against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.”
The escalation comes amid ongoing tensions along Gaza’s borders, where intermittent flare-ups have continued since the start of the war on the enclave in October of last year.
Meanwhile, Hamas on Sunday reaffirmed its full commitment to all agreements reached, particularly the ceasefire across all areas of the Gaza Strip.
The movement stated that it had no knowledge of any incidents or clashes taking place in the Rafah area, describing it as a “red zone” under Israeli control, where communication has been severed with the remaining groups since the war resumed in March this year.
Hamas further clarified that it has no information about whether its members in the area were killed or remain alive, adding that the movement has no involvement in any current events there and cannot communicate with any of its elements who might still be alive.
