At the start of his government’s weekly meeting, Netanyahu said, “Since Iran has violated the rules, President Trump decided to impose a naval blockade. We, of course, support this firm stance and are in constant coordination with the United States.”
The blockade is set to begin on Monday after U.S.–Iran negotiations in Islamabad failed, a development that has already contributed to rising oil prices.
According to Washington, the blockade will take effect at 14:00 GMT on Monday and will target all vessels heading to or departing from Iranian ports.
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the timing in a post on Truth Social, stating that the United States would enforce the blockade on ships entering and leaving Iranian ports starting at 10:00 a.m. Washington time on April 13.
The sudden announcement of the blockade, along with the collapse of talks in Islamabad, has raised renewed concerns about global oil supplies.
