The announcement came during a press conference held by Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajar following a security meeting at the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces in Beirut.

Al-Hajar stated that security agencies succeeded in arresting agents of the Israeli enemy, along with thwarting terrorist plots and dismantling organized crime networks.

The minister did not provide details regarding the arrested individuals’ links to Israel, which has waged several wars on Lebanon and occupies Lebanese territory in some areas.

He clarified that specialized authorities arrested groups and individuals who were in contact with extremist ideologies, without further elaboration. He added that these preventive measures helped stop terrorist plans inside the country.

Additionally, al-Hajar announced the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network, reporting that the network’s leader and several others were arrested before they could deliver a shipment to the Port of Beirut.

Authorities seized 6.5 million Captagon pills prepared for smuggling to Saudi Arabia via Beirut Port.

In response to questions about coordination with other countries, al-Hajar told Lebanese MTV TV that security agencies are coordinating with their counterparts in Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and other countries.

On September 2, Beirut announced that in coordination with Saudi Arabia, authorities seized 125 kg of cocaine during an attempted smuggling into Lebanon.
