GAZA — The Israeli army issued a statement on Saturday justifying the airstrike that targeted the Orthodox Christian Church of St.Porphyrius in Gaza two days ago, resulting in the deaths of approximately 12 Christian and Muslim refugees. They claimed that any damage caused by the airstrike was "unintended collateral damage."اضافة اعلان

The statement went on to say that Israeli warplanes had targeted the command and control center of Hamas in the Zaytoun neighborhood, which was involved in launching rocket and mortar attacks towards Israel, Khaberni reported.

According to the Israeli army, this command center was used for attacks on Israel and was located within a civilian-populated area.

The statement emphasized that any damage caused by the airstrike was unintended, and they alleged that they could not deny the church was the intended target of the attack.

The statement also accused Hamas of deliberately locating its operational facilities in civilian-populated areas, using the people of Gaza as human shields.
