OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, plans to more than triple the workforce at its European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, to 350 employees, the company announced on Monday, alongside leasing an 8,000-square-meter office space in the city's Silicon Docks area.

The artificial intelligence leader stated that it currently employs more than 100 people at its Dublin office, which opened in 2023, and plans to hire an additional 250 staff over the next two years across engineering and support operations, according to Reuters.
Dublin hosts the European headquarters for several American tech giants, including Google parent Alphabet, Facebook parent Meta, and Microsoft Corporation.
Foreign multinational companies, particularly in the technology and pharmaceutical sectors, employ about 11% of the workforce in Ireland, frequently citing the high caliber of the Irish workforce as a key factor in choosing the country for their operations.
Some major tech firms, such as Meta and TikTok, had announced job cuts across their Irish operations over the past year, while the government highlighted artificial intelligence as a priority for attracting new investments.
These companies are also drawn by the country's tax regime.
