Al-Hayseh emphasized that the opening of this project came after the Authority signed an investment agreement with its owner to benefit from the roads and land owned by the Authority along the Wala Dam and other facilities, within the Authority’s policy to confront the phenomena of poverty and unemployment and to facilitate the opening of investment projects that bring sustainable development to the region.
He added that the authority is working with a developmental mindset based on development, improvement, and management of water resources, within a package of projects launched across an area to bring about development within the economic modernization programs that the government is working on, praising the project that provides job opportunities for the people of the region.
He called on the people of the region in Wadi al-Wala, al-Mujib and Berta waterfalls to take advantage of the incentives offered by the Authority, and to establish tourism-related projects that benefit the region, stressing that the Authority will continue to support development and tourism projects that contribute to stimulating economic activity and providing a respite for citizens, and that investment procedures and facilities are available to ensure attracting more investment opportunities to the region.
For his part, the project owner, Hussein Al-Sunaid, said that his project was built on a 26-dunum plot of land with a distinguished view of the dam in the Mleih district of the Dhiban Brigade to be a recreational space for the people of the region. It is the first of its kind that has so far provided about 15 job opportunities for the people of the region and attracts visitors from various regions of the Kingdom.
He expressed his gratitude to the Jordan Valley Authority, with which he signed an investment agreement to expand the project and work to complete its phases by utilizing the lands owned by the Authority and the roads, which confirms the government’s interest in establishing investment projects, exploiting the aesthetics of the sites, and creating a recreational outlet for citizens.
He explained that the project includes a number of tourist services, including overnight tents, glass houses, wooden and transparent cabins, water fountains, and areas for adventures and games, thus providing an integrated tourist experience for visitors of different categories.
The ceremony, presented by poet Dr. Bakr Al-Sawa’ida, featured an artistic and heritage program that reflected the authenticity of the Jordanian heritage. Artist Muhammad Al-Harawi performed national and heritage songs, while the Madaba Heritage Revival Troupe presented folkloric performances that impressed the audience. Rababa player Ziad Al-Masri also excelled in presenting heritage pieces that added a distinctive atmosphere to the celebration.
The ceremony concluded by emphasizing the importance of partnership between the public and private sectors in implementing development projects and investing in the natural resources of the Wala region, which enhances its position as a promising tourist and investment destination, and contributes to revitalizing tourism and creating job opportunities for the people of Dhiban District and Madaba Governorate.
