Eating an evening snack that includes avocado may have a positive impact on blood fat levels the next morning—especially in individuals with impaired glucose metabolism.اضافة اعلان

According to the journal Current Developments in Nutrition, researchers from the Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States reached this conclusion after conducting a study involving 27 adults with prediabetes. On different evenings, participants consumed one of three types of snacks: avocado, a low-fat/low-fiber snack, or a processed product with fat and fiber levels similar to avocado.

Participants ate the snacks between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m., then fasted for 12 hours before consuming a standard breakfast the next morning. Researchers measured levels of triglycerides, glucose, insulin, and inflammatory markers before and after the meals.

The analysis showed that eating avocado in the evening reduced triglyceride levels (including cholesterol) in the blood. This effect was particularly noticeable three hours after breakfast. A slight decrease was also observed the next morning in a fasting state.

According to the study's lead author, Professor Britt Burton-Freeman, this effect may be due to avocado’s unique composition and its nutrient structure, which supports heart health and regulates fat metabolism.

The researchers also note that these findings challenge the common belief that evening snacking is harmful. In fact, late-night snacks can be both safe and healthy—provided they are nutrient-dense. The positive impact of avocado is attributed to its richness in unsaturated fats and fiber, which may help regulate overnight metabolic processes.
