Amman — With the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Youth of Na’imeh Association for Jordanian Folklore held a national and traditional musical evening at the Salti Pasha Al-Ayyoub guesthouse in Al-Husn, Irbid Governorate, attended by members of the local community and those interested in poetry, arts and Jordanian folk heritage.

The evening was held as part of cultural and artistic activities aimed at reviving Jordanian folk heritage, strengthening the presence of national and traditional songs, and introducing folk arts that form an authentic part of Jordan’s cultural and social memory.
Poet Hussein Al-Turk hosted the evening, welcoming attendees and emphasizing the importance of organizing cultural events that bring together poetry, music and folklore, contributing to the preservation of Jordanian heritage and passing it on to younger generations in a living and renewed form.
The evening featured a variety of poetry and musical performances. Poets Professor Dr. Harbi Al-Masri and Hassan Al-Bourini opened the program with a poetry segment, presenting a collection of poems reflecting national, social and heritage themes. The poems highlighted the place of poetry in Jordan’s cultural scene and its role in expressing national and human issues and the connection to land and identity.
The event also featured a traditional musical performance by singer Nidal Al-Ahmad, who performed a selection of songs inspired by Jordanian musical heritage. The performance evoked the beauty of folk songs and the values and memories associated with social occasions and the everyday lives of Jordanians.
As part of the national segment, singer Ibrahim Al-Shoumali performed a selection of patriotic songs that drew an enthusiastic response from the audience, expressing feelings of pride in and belonging to the homeland and highlighting the role of national songs in strengthening collective memory and expressing patriotic sentiments.
The musical and poetry performances were accompanied by traditional dabke dances performed by the Youth of Na’imeh Association for Jordanian Folklore. The performances brought an atmosphere of joy and energy to the evening and showcased examples of folk arts characteristic of different parts of Jordan, reflecting the Kingdom’s rich cultural and folkloric diversity.
With its coordinated movements and rhythms, the dabke formed a complete heritage tableau intertwined with traditional and national songs. It presented the audience with an artistic scene reflecting the authenticity and continuity of Jordanian heritage while highlighting the importance of supporting folklore groups and encouraging young people to participate in preserving this cultural legacy.
The organizers emphasized that such events are held in recognition of the role of culture and the arts in strengthening communication among members of the community, preserving elements of folk heritage, and providing poets, artists and folklore groups with opportunities to showcase their work before audiences. They also stressed the importance of encouraging young talent across various cultural and artistic fields.
The evening also highlighted the importance of partnerships between cultural institutions, local groups and associations in organizing programs and events across different regions and governorates. Such initiatives give audiences opportunities to engage directly with traditional and national arts, helping reinforce Jordanian cultural identity and showcase its diverse components.
The evening concluded in a festive atmosphere, reflecting the audience’s engagement with the various performances. Participants stressed the importance of continuing to organize cultural and artistic evenings that bring together poetry, music, singing and folklore, given their role in preserving Jordanian folk heritage and strengthening its presence in contemporary cultural life.
The event forms part of the cultural and artistic activity taking place across Irbid Governorate, whose towns and communities are home to creative talents and rich heritage and artistic experiences.
