Jordanian researcher Abbas Haddadin has discovered an exceptionally well-preserved wasp trapped in Early Cretaceous Jordanian amber, dated to approximately 140 million years. The specimen was examined and classified at the Moscow Institute of Entomology by a team of specialist entomologists led by Professor Alexander Rasnitsyn, one of the world’s foremost experts on fossil insects.اضافة اعلان

The wasp was identified as belonging to the family Serphitidae, an ancient and primitive lineage considered to be among the ancestral origins of modern wasps. This remarkable finding adds significant scientific value to the Jordanian amber record, which has already proven to be one of the richest Cretaceous fossil sites in the region.

This discovery contributes to the growing international recognition of Jordanian amber as a unique window into the ecosystems of the Early Cretaceous period, preserving insects and other organisms with exceptional clarity and detail.
