The remarks were made on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Shamali said that empowering and training young people for the labor market is a priority, noting that the government’s economic priorities program for the years 2021–2023 allocated JD80 million for the program’s implementation.

“The public-private partnership consolidates social responsibility to achieve constructive results that would eventually be reflected on the local community,” he added, saying that the training process will be carried out through institutions approved by the two sectors.

For his part, ACC chairman Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq said that unemployment has become one of the most burdensome economic challenges, climbing to unprecedented rates due to the coronavirus pandemic, which requires urgent action in collaboration with the private sector.

“Local unions, employers’ associations, and the ACC will not skimp on providing efforts, opinions, and ideas that may contribute to the success of the national program,” he added.

During the meeting, ideas and opinions that may give a share to the success of the program have also been put forward.
