AMMAN — Head of the Private
Hospitals Association Fawzi Al-Hammouri said that medical tourism visits from
Libyans have been suspended for more than a year due to outstanding debts
accumulated by the Libyan government, according to a local news outlet.

Private hospitals in Jordan are
demanding around JD150 million in dues accumulated by Libyans over the past ten
years, he said.
A committee from Libya visited
Jordan two months ago to discuss the outstanding debts, and decided to review
and audit all issued invoices so that the required amounts could be disbursed
to Jordanian hospital, Hammouri said.
He confirmed that Jordan receives
patients for medical tourism purposes from various countries, with the
exception of Libya.
