The second session of the Jordan–Syria Higher Coordination Council at the ministerial level is set to begin in Amman on Sunday, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Syrian counterpart Asaad Al-Shaibani, with the participation of ministerial delegations representing 20 sectors.
The two ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at 3:00 p.m.
Safadi had previously signed a memorandum of understanding with Al-Shaibani between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic to establish and activate the Higher Coordination Council. The two countries had agreed to form the council during Safadi’s visit to Damascus on April 17, 2025, where he met with Al-Shaibani.
The council held its first session in May 2025 in Damascus, chaired by Safadi and Al-Shaibani, with the participation of ministers from both sides. On the Jordanian side, the sectors included water and irrigation, industry, trade and supply, energy and mineral resources, and transport, alongside their Syrian counterparts in economy, industry, energy, and transport.
