AMMAN — Remittances by Jordanians working in Qatar amounted to $117 million in the first quarter of 2022, up by 17
percent from the $100 million reported in the same period of last year,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Qatari exchangers said Wednesday that the increase was
driven by the rise in the number of Jordanian expatriates in Qatar, which went
from 60,000 three years ago to 70,000 currently, which they attributed to two
Qatari employment initiatives in 2018 and 2020.
