AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat and his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Attari on Wednesday inaugurated the joint Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Marketing Company in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

Speaking in Jericho, Hneifat said setting up the company is a reflection of the brotherly Jordanian-Palestinian ties and of the Hashemite leadership’s directives to support Palestinian farmers and the steadfastness of Palestinians on their land.

“The opening of the company today is a continuation of the first step, which was taken four months ago, when the main branch was opened in Amman,” he added, referring to the opening of the headquarters of the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Marketing Company in April.

“A few days ago, we started signing contracts with international companies to export some kinds of vegetable and dates. This will mark the beginning of the company’s work,” said Hneifat.

“The biggest challenge facing farmers, whether in Jordan or in Palestine, is marketing. Therefore, this company will look into a clear marketing strategy, to calculate the feasibility and profitability of the farms before farming even begins. This will support the farmers without giving high profitability to intermediary companies, and this is the primary objective of this company,” Hneifat said.

He also stressed that Jordan will give priority to imports from Palestine to make up produce supply deficits in the Jordanian market. He added that the Kingdom would find ways to maximize the benefit of more “traditional markets in the Arabian Gulf” like the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, as well as European markets.
