Interest rates in Kingdom are lowest in the region – Central Bank

AMMAN — Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Khaldoun Al-Wshah shared on Tuesday that interest rates in Jordan are among the lowest in the region. اضافة اعلان

This came during the first International Conference and Forum on Business and Digital Economy (IBDE) at the University of Jordan.

Jordan’s digital economyMeanwhile, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Al-Hanandeh, stated that the future lies in the digital economy, pointing to a national strategy for digital transformation which includes education and training.

Dr. Nadhir Obeidat, the President of the University of Jordan, shared in his opening speech on behalf of the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafzah, that the digital economy is a rapidly evolving educational experience based on creating different systems capable of generating thousands of opportunities.

He also stressed that business graduates need to possess digital influence that enables them to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Furthermore, it has become essential for business management to align with the changing context of the global economy and to recognize the requirements of economic development as an important and fundamental part of national economies.

He added that at the University of Jordan strives to establish a genuine partnership with various industries to build an integrated system capable of confronting challenges and influencing business and government decisions.

He emphasized that in order to progress in the digitalization of the economy, there is a need to emphasize appropriate guiding principles, solid planning, review traditional strategies, implement advanced and effective technology, identify gaps, formulate appropriate policies, all in order to achieve the growth and sustainability of the digital economy.

The power of digital economyDr. Ra'ed Musaidah Bani Yasen, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the University of Jordan, stated that the importance of understanding and benefiting from the power of the digital economy stems from the immense and rapid technological advancements in this era.

He highlighted the inevitability of nations, institutions, and individuals adopting and embracing innovation and taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital age.

He added that the conference provides an opportunity for researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and businessmen from all over the world to engage in discussions on vital areas in business and the digital economy, exchange knowledge, and build partnerships that pave the way for a brighter future.

The conference and forum, organized by the Faculty of Business at the University of Jordan, will discuss, over the course of three days, 71 research papers addressing the most important developments in the field of the digital economy, the challenges it faces, and the opportunities it offers for economic development.

The aim is to provide a platform for dialogue and present the most important scientific research in business and technology-related fields, such as digital commercial and banking services, finance, information technology, and tourism.
