During his speech, Kharabsheh emphasized the importance of investing in modern technologies to raise the efficiency of power plants and enhance their operational readiness, praising the efforts exerted to complete the project in accordance with the best international technical standards.
He stated that the Rihab Power Station is the first combined-cycle power plant in the Kingdom and constitutes a vital part of the national electrical grid, accounting for approximately 40% of the generating capacity of power plants in Jordan, noting that it is one of the most efficient generation plants nationwide.
He added that Jordan's energy sector is among the sectors that evoke pride, pointing out that the Kingdom supplies part of Iraq's electricity needs through the existing infrastructure, provides Palestinian brothers with part of their electricity needs, and supplies Syria with part of its gas needs.
He explained that this sector was built by Jordanian hands, similar to many national sectors that have contributed to the renaissance of the Jordanian state over eighty years, stressing that the energy sector will remain one of the main drivers of economic development in the Kingdom.
For his part, the Director General of Samra Electric Power Generating Company, Eng. Sami Zawatein, explained that implementing the system aligns with the strategy of the company and its partners to adopt advanced technological solutions that contribute to improving operational performance.
He indicated that the project was completed within the specified timeframe despite logistical challenges and regional conditions that affected supply chains, at a cost of approximately JOD 1.3 million, funded by the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). He affirmed the plant's readiness to meet the growing demand for energy during the summer months and the company's commitment to continuing the execution of qualitative projects that support the sustainability of the energy sector.
The Fogging System project aims to upgrade the efficiency and performance of gas turbines by using a technology that lowers the temperature of the air entering the turbines. This mitigates the impact of high summer temperatures on the performance of the generating units, helps recover a portion of the generating capacity lost due to climatic conditions, and boosts the available capacity of the plant during peak periods and high loads, thereby supporting the stability of the electrical grid and energy supply security in the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that the "Rihab" station is one of the plants affiliated with Samra Electric Power Generating Company, with a nominal capacity of 297 megawatts.
