The textiles and leather sector maintained its position as the leading export sector, recording exports worth $92.6 million. It was followed by the food, agricultural, and supply industries sector with exports valued at $5.7 million, and the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector with exports worth $3 million.

The remaining exports were distributed among the chemical and cosmetics industries, valued at $3 million, as well as the engineering and electrical industries, plastics and rubber industries, construction industries, packaging, paper and cardboard products, office supplies, and mining industries.

Al-Hassan Industrial Estate accounted for the majority of May's exports, totaling $102 million. It was followed by Cyber City with exports worth $3 million, while exports originating from the chamber's main office amounted to $808,000.

Exports to the United States reached approximately $48.4 million, while exports to the Netherlands totaled $6.8 million, Germany $4.3 million, Canada $2.1 million, and Saudi Arabia $2.9 million.

Hani Abu Hassan, Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the industrial sector in northern Jordan continued to achieve positive results during the first five months of the year despite regional challenges and changes affecting global trade. He noted that export growth is clear evidence of Irbid's industry's ability to maintain its production and export momentum.

Abu Hassan highlighted the positive cumulative performance of the sector, which reflects its ability to preserve external markets and sustain production and export activities despite surrounding challenges.

He stressed that these indicators demonstrate the resilience of Jordanian industry in the northern region and its ability to continue production and exports even during crises. He also emphasized the importance of continued support for the industrial sector and efforts to enhance its competitiveness in order to sustain this positive performance.

Abu Hassan added that Jordan has provided a favorable industrial investment environment by simplifying procedures aimed at maintaining the competitiveness of Jordanian products. He affirmed that the chamber is working with government entities and partner institutions to open new markets and diversify exports.
