Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), they noted that the world is currently experiencing an unprecedented technological revolution, where artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart energy stand out as the hallmarks of shaping the future.

They highlighted that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II’s interest in future technologies serves as a strategic catalyst and a direct enabler of accelerated transformation, providing it with high-level momentum.

During recent meetings with members of the U.S. Congress in Washington, His Royal Highness referred to projects of the National Council for Future Technology, which include applying AI in education, digital health, and the development of digital infrastructure.

Eng. Nidal Bitar, CEO of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j), said that establishing the National Council for Future Technology under Royal directives is a landmark step for implementing strategic projects that serve the national economy. The council brings together experts from both the public and private sectors and sets measurable, actionable plans.

He added that His Royal Highness personally follows the progress of projects handled by the council, such as digital signatures, expanding e-government services through the Sanad app, and exploring technological solutions for practical issues like traffic congestion.

Bitar stressed that Jordan possesses the foundations to capitalize on future technologies, noting that the ICT sector is the fastest growing in the national economy. Technology can support startups, attract foreign investments, and enhance digital infrastructure, including large data centers.

He explained that AI represents a major opportunity to advance education by personalizing learning experiences and analyzing student performance—an approach already being adopted by some Jordanian universities through regulations governing the use of AI in education and research.

The healthcare sector, he added, is also witnessing promising projects such as hospital digitization and the creation of a virtual hospital, along with developing the national digital infrastructure, which includes digital identity, cybersecurity, and electronic payment systems to deliver smarter and more secure government services.

Other vital sectors such as agriculture, energy, and water will also benefit from AI to boost production and rationalize consumption.

Dr. Mohammad Al-Kasasbeh, a computer science and network security expert at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, said that focusing on future technologies is a comprehensive national project aimed at positioning Jordan as a key player on the regional and global technological scene. Modern technologies, he said, are not merely tools for improving services or daily life; they are essential levers for creating quality jobs, strengthening the economy, and fostering a more advanced educational and industrial environment.

He stressed that investing in technology opens wide horizons for Jordan to enter new fields such as smart cities, digital medicine, and smart agriculture, making the Jordanian citizen the primary beneficiary of this transformation. He added that technology has now become an inseparable part of the comprehensive security system.

Al-Kasasbeh emphasized that the responsibility of universities, research centers, and Jordanian youth is amplified under this Royal vision. The challenge is no longer recognizing the importance of technology but rather how to employ it and transform it into practical innovations and solutions that serve society and the state. He underscored the role of national talent in seizing available opportunities, producing original knowledge, and launching pioneering projects capable of competing regionally and globally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hamza Al-Akalik, advisor on governance, digital transformation regulation, competition laws, and e-commerce, said that the Crown Prince’s focus is embodied in concrete directives such as finding technological solutions to traffic congestion and expediting digital signature implementation. These directives, he noted, reflect a deep understanding of citizens’ daily challenges and confirm that the vision includes direct, practical solutions.

He pointed out that His Royal Highness’s attention is distinguished by its focus on tangible results, effective coordination between the public and private sectors, and reliance on Jordanian expertise at home and abroad. Moreover, His participation in the first Cybersecurity Summit confirms that the vision extends to protecting cyberspace, a prerequisite for attracting investments.

Al-Akalik added that Jordan has achieved significant milestones in its digital journey, laying a solid foundation to build on, including the Jordanian Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2023–2027) and the National Digital Health Strategy (2024–2030), which harness ICT systems to improve healthcare quality.

He noted that digital infrastructure is the backbone of any comprehensive transformation, a principle affirmed by the Digital Transformation Strategy (2026–2028), which aims to develop advanced, flexible infrastructure. The legal framework, he explained, serves as the “railway” upon which the train of development and investment runs. Jordan has taken notable steps in this regard by enacting the Personal Data Protection Law of 2021, which established a council and regulatory unit dedicated to data protection.

He described the legislative “railway,” as referred to by the Crown Prince, as the essential condition for ensuring the smooth progress of development, while cybersecurity forms the fortress protecting this train from growing threats.

Al-Akalik concluded that adherence to the Royal vision, fostering active public-private partnerships, and advancing legislative frameworks and enabling policies will allow Jordan to translate these ambitions into tangible reality, positioning the Kingdom as a global launchpad for future technologies.
