Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that his country was ready to stop targeting Russian energy facilities if Moscow agreed to take a similar step.

“We are ready for any format of an energy truce,” Zelensky told reporters on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, provided that Russia agrees “not to attack our energy system.”
Zelensky said Washington and Kyiv want to end the war with Russia before winter, following what he described as a “positive” meeting with US President Donald Trump.
“I had a positive and productive meeting with President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly. The United States and Ukraine want to end this senseless Russian war before winter,” Zelensky wrote on social media.
He said the two sides discussed “possible steps toward de-escalation that could pave the way for diplomacy.”
Trump said the diesel fuel shortage was caused by the situation between Russia and Ukraine, rather than developments in the Middle East, and urged Zelensky to stop targeting diesel infrastructure in Russia.
Trump added that there were many targets that could be struck, but Zelensky needed to stop targeting diesel facilities, saying attacks on diesel fuel and related infrastructure were contributing to shortages.
“You have to stop disrupting Russia’s diesel fuel supplies,” Trump said.
