Zelensky: "I Will Wait for Putin in Istanbul"
In a rare positive gesture, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed his readiness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Istanbul next Thursday, stating that "there is no point in prolonging the war."اضافة اعلان

Zelensky urged Russia, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), to accept a 30-day ceasefire proposed by Kyiv's allies, and he expressed his expectation that Putin would participate in peace talks in Turkey.

He added: "We are awaiting a full and permanent ceasefire starting today (Monday) to provide the necessary foundation for diplomacy," adding: "I will personally be waiting for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. I hope the Russians will not look for excuses this time."

Zelensky's statement came hours after Putin proposed, on Sunday morning, holding "direct" and "swift" talks aimed at ending the war. The Kremlin only announced that the head of the Russian delegation would be named in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump urged both sides to meet "without waiting for a ceasefire," expressing hope for an end to the "bloodbath." (Agencies)
