WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that there is a "possibility" the United States will resume military strikes against Iran. Addressing reporters in West Palm Beach, Trump’s remarks come as a fragile ceasefire faces significant strain and diplomatic efforts remain deadlocked.

Escalating Rhetoric from Tehran
The President’s comments followed a warning from a senior Iranian military official who described the renewal of conflict with the U.S. as a "distinct possibility."
According to the Fars News Agency, Mohammad Jafar Asadi, Deputy Chief of Inspection for the Iranian Central Command, stated that "a renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is a likely scenario, as facts have shown that the U.S. does not adhere to any promises or agreements." He added that Iranian forces are "fully prepared for any adventure or reckless action by the Americans."
A Fragile Truce Under Pressure
A ceasefire has been in effect since April 8, following nearly 40 days of coordinated Israeli and American strikes on Iranian targets. Despite the truce, Iran has maintained a functional blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global maritime navigation.
On Friday, Tehran submitted a new negotiation proposal via Pakistan, which serves as a diplomatic intermediary between Washington and Tehran. While details of the 14-point proposal remain undisclosed, President Trump had previously characterized Iran's negotiating position as "unacceptable," asserting that the Islamic Republic has not yet paid a "heavy enough price" for its regional activities.
The latest exchange of threats underscores the volatility of the current security environment, as both sides prepare for a potential collapse of the month-long cessation of hostilities.
