Earlier, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that Israeli naval forces intercepted four of the 44 ships participating in the “Global Flotilla of Steadfastness” to break the Gaza blockade. Two ships were attacked, and those on board were detained, including an Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondent.
The ships intercepted by the Israeli navy carried dozens of activists and were ordered to change course toward Ashdod port.
Israel’s Channel 13 reported that the navy had so far taken control of six ships from the flotilla, adding that the operation to control the flotilla is expected to continue through Thursday.
