The PSD spokesperson said Monday that rescue teams responded to a report shortly after midnight about three people trapped in a flood channel in Ruweished District.

The spokesperson confirmed that rescue teams reached the scene and successfully rescued two individuals, who were transported to a hospital in moderate condition. Search operations remain underway for the third missing person.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing warned that despite repeated alerts about the dangers of approaching flood channels and valleys, reckless behavior continues to put lives at risk.

The ministry explained that rainfall continued in Ruweished, in Jordan's eastern desert region, until 3:00 AM. Floodwaters flowing from Saudi Arabia reached the Lawrence Al-Shaalan Dam before continuing along their natural course toward Syrian territory after the dam overflowed.

Despite repeated warnings issued by the PSD, Civil Defense, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Ministry of Local Administration, and other relevant authorities, several young men reportedly attempted to drive their vehicle through the floodwaters after waiting for the water to flow, causing the vehicle to be swept away by the strong current.

The ministry stressed that the incident highlights the serious dangers of ignoring official warnings and attempting to cross flooded areas.

It renewed its appeal to citizens to follow safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities, stay away from valleys and flood channels, and never attempt to cross floodwaters, whether by vehicle or on foot, under any circumstances.
