The new service will allow road users to pay tolls electronically through a wallet linked to the service. Vehicles will be identified automatically as they pass through, with the applicable toll deducted directly from the wallet balance without the need to stop and make a payment.

Masar offers two vehicle identification and toll collection mechanisms. The first is designated for Jordanian vehicles and uses smart cameras to read license plate numbers. Vehicle owners can subscribe through the “Sanad” application and activate the linked electronic wallet, without the need to install stickers or additional devices on their vehicles.

The second mechanism is available to both Jordanian and foreign vehicles and relies on an electronic sticker using radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology. The sticker is installed on the vehicle and its identification number is linked to the service, allowing the system to automatically recognize the vehicle as it passes and deduct the road toll from the electronic wallet.

The ministry said RFID stickers will be available through its Road Asset Management Directorate, as well as at the Al-Harrana station, where users can obtain the sticker and complete the procedures to link it to the service.

The service is part of the ministry’s efforts to develop the road management system and improve operational efficiency by adopting modern electronic payment methods that facilitate vehicle movement, reduce traditional collection procedures and enhance the experience of users of toll roads.

The ministry emphasized that Masar was designed to provide flexible options for both Jordanian and foreign vehicle owners, enabling them to use the road through a simplified electronic system that improves operational efficiency and provides easier services to citizens and road users.

The ministry is expected to announce details regarding the launch of the service, subscription procedures and activation requirements alongside its official rollout.
