AMMAN — The prosecutor
general of the State Security Court announced that the public prosecution has
completed its investigations into the recent “sedition” case, in which at least
14 people are implicated in a plot targeting the Kingdom’s security, the Jordan
News Agency, Petra, reported.
He said in a statement on Tuesday that the
results of the investigation have revealed that the actions and roles of those
involved “would have posed a clear threat to the security and stability of the
Kingdom”. The prosecutors are in the process of finalizing the legal procedures
ahead of referring the case to the State Security Court, he said.
The prosecutor on April 14 launched
investigations into the sedition case. Between 14 and 16 defendants were
implicated in the case, most notable of which are Bassem Awadallah, a former
senior official and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid.
Both were arrested among the others following an
extensive security operation into activities described as threatening to the
security and stability of the country.
