Public debt hits JD41.181 billion in 2023, 114% of GDP

AMMAN— Jordan's total public debt surged to JD41.181 billion during 2023, reaching 114 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), including the debt owed by the government to the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF).اضافة اعلان

According to Ministry of Finance data, the government's total borrowing during 2023 amounted to JD2.692 billion. The data further indicated that the government borrowed only JD1 billion from the SSIF in 2023, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The data also revealed that the government's total borrowing from the SSIF reached JD8.892 billion.
