Political Parties Law aims for parties with ‘broad membership base’

AMMAN — Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Al-Maaytah said on Tuesday that the draft Political Parties Law aims to foster parties with a broad membership base, adding that “the idea is that these parties would have agendas that attract a big number of voters, gain majority seats in parliament to form future governments,” according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

He pointed out that alliances among parties are very important in order to form broad-based parties, adding that the primary test for those existing or new parties will be in the next parliamentary elections, especially since the draft Election Law set 30 percent (41 parliamentary seats) as a minimum share for each party.
