AMMAN —
According to the daily traffic report, 5,047 traffic violations were recorded
during the weekend, Al-Ghad News reported.
A representative of
the Traffic and Highway Patrol Department stressed that the violations were
mainly caused by cars driving in convoys, which created traffic jams and put
people’s lives at risk, adding that legal actions were taken against violators.
He also stressed
that the department will continue to sanction these violations to ensure that a
safe traffic environment is achieved in the country.
A highway patrol
officer said a driver was caught driving 205km/h on Airport Road, where the
speed limit is 100km/h at the most. The traffic patrols also dealt with the
driver of a car that hit a utility pole in the Al-Amiriah area, blocking the
left lane and creating traffic jam.
