Minister of Government Communication and official government spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani on Wednesday stressed the importance of keeping official government media tools current with rapid developments in the digital media sector, according to a statement from Petra.

Al-Momani made the remarks during the opening of the "Capacity Building in Communication and Digital Media via Social Media Platforms" workshop, held in Amman and organised by the Ministry of Government Communication in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy.
The workshop featured presentations by a team from Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads. Al-Momani said the event aimed to equip government media personnel with the latest knowledge and skills in using digital media tools.
He said Jordan had a successful track record in digital media, and underlined the need to continuously monitor developments in modern media platforms and tools. He also stressed the importance of reaching the widest possible audience through advances in handling journalistic and communication products.
The workshop was attended by 126 staff from government media units, including media spokespeople, digital media officers, and personnel from the media units of ministries, institutions, government agencies, and companies.
The session was held as part of the Ministry of Government Communication's ongoing media training and development policy, which aims to build the capacity of government journalists and media personnel through training courses and workshops focused on the use of social media tools in official media work.
Topics covered included the foundations of informational content and types of published materials, mechanisms for selecting the most suitable times for publication and audience engagement, tools for improving content reach using artificial intelligence algorithms, guidelines for handling images and videos, media campaign strategies, and performance and impact measurement indicators.
