King participates in new Aqaba Process round on Latin America

AQABA—His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday participated in a new round of the Aqaba Process meetings held in the city of Aqaba, covering Latin America for the first time, and co-chaired with Brazil.اضافة اعلان

Thursday’s round, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered means of maintaining coordination and consultation to counter terrorism and extremism threats, within a holistic approach.

The Aqaba Process round, also attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II and Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, addressed the importance of stepping up efforts to counter terrorist and extremist rhetoric online.

The participants stressed the need to exchange expertise and broaden partnerships in the fight against extremism within the Aqaba Process.

Participants in this round of meetings included heads and representatives of security agencies and military institutions from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Uruguay, Panama, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, the UK, Portugal, Spain, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Japan, and the US, as well as representatives of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism and the Interpol.

The Aqaba Process meetings have been held outside Jordan over the past years, hosted by Indonesia, Albania, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the United States, the United Nations, and Singapore, in partnership with the Kingdom.

The Aqaba Process initiative was launched by King Abdullah in 2015 to enhance coordination and exchange of expertise and information among regional and international stakeholders to counter terrorism and extremism.
