Jordan witnessed 30.21 million CliQ transactions in 2023

AMMAN – The Jordanian Payment and Clearing Company (JoPACC) reported that the total number of transactions carried out through the Instant Payment System (CliQ) reached 30.21 million transactions last year, with a total value of JD5.11 billion.

At the end of December 2023, the value of transactions executed through CliQ reached JD634 million, compared to JD563 million in the preceding month, representing a 12.6 percent increase, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

According to the report, the total number of CliQ users in Jordan reached 1.18 million clients, compared to 1.13 million in November, reflecting 4.4 percent growth.

In December, 4.06 million transactions were executed through CliQ, compared to 3.59 million transactions in November, showing a 13.1 percent increase.

The report further reveals that 88.3 percent of the transactions were used for money transfers, with a total value of JD532 million, while 11.7 percent of the transactions were used for purchases, with a value of JD101 million. The average value of money transfer transactions was JD156.

Regarding user demographics, these are the following statistics:

  • 8 percent of the system’s clients are Jordanians, totaling 1.14 million individuals.
  • 2 percent are non-Jordanian, amounting to 37,500 people.
  • 6 percent are male, accounting for 752,000 males.
  • 2 percent are female, amounting to 405,000 females.
  • 4,000 users are below the age of 18.
  • 469,000 users are aged 18 to 30.
  • 315,000 users are aged 31 to 40.
  • 197,000 users are aged 41 to 50.
  • 118,000 users are aged 51 to 60.
  • 50,000 users are aged 61 to 70.
  • 12,000 users are aged 71 to 80.
  • 2,000 users are aged 81 to 90.

On January 16, 2017, the Central Bank of Jordan and 25 banks operating in Jordan approved the establishment of JoPACC, a privately held company headquartered in Amman with an authorized capital of JD12 million.

The CliQ system has significantly improved financial services in Jordan, enabling instant fund transfers and enhancing the Kingdom’s payment ecosystem.
