Efforts to cool tensionsAn official Jordanian source called the meeting a “significant breakthrough” for Jordan, as it brings together Palestinian and Israeli political and security officials with regional and international attendance.

The source noted that Jordan is convening the meeting in coordination with Palestine, with the goal of reaching an agreement to stop unilateral actions that undermine prospects for achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution.

Other news outlets have also stated that the summit aims to discuss efforts to cool escalations and security tensions in the Palestinian Territories before and during the holy month of Ramadan in particular.
