Jordan receives wheat, barely

Roughly 588,000 tonnes of wheat and 633,000 tonnes of barley entered the country on 10 and 11 ships respectively, according to Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply spokesperson Yanal Al- Barmawi.

He said the strategic grain stock is sufficient for 14 months of domestic consumption. Jordan consumes an estimated 90,000 tonnes of grain per month, he added.

The Kingdom’s strategic stock of wheat and barley includes quantities in warehouses, in addition to contracted amounts, which are supplied to the Kingdom within agreed upon deadlines, Barmawi explained.
