AMMAN — According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli prime minister’s office is seeking to convene a meeting between Premier Yair Lapid and King Abdullah on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, due to His Majesty’s ability to impact the Palestinian Authority, in view of the recent escalation in the West Bank, AmmanNet reported.اضافة اعلان

The chances of a meeting between Lapid and King Abdullah are so far uncertain, due to their tight schedules, the newspaper said in an article published on Sunday.

However, the Israeli newspaper quoted two high-ranking Israeli officials as saying that the meeting between Lapid and King Abdullah may take place on Tuesday.

Israel is very interested in such a meeting, because of the leverage King Abdullah has on the Palestinian Authority; its aim would be to help improve the security coordination between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, after days of a series of escalations in the West Bank, according to the article.
