AMMAN — Tourism Minister Nayef Al-Fayez said on Thursday that one of the key amendments to the Jordan Tourism Board Law is a new article stipulating the creation of an independent fund for tourism risks.
Under the amended law, Fayez said, a new committee would be set up to manage the fund and identify the terms and procedures for applying to acquire financial facilitations and assistance from the fund.
The amended law, approved by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, seeks to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism jobs, as well as a precautionary measure for potential future risks, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
