The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) has seized an illegal drilling rig while it was digging an unauthorized well in the Udhruh-Ghadir al-Haj area of Ma'an Governorate. The operation is part of ongoing inspection campaigns aimed at tightening control over water resources.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said that personnel from the Internal Control Unit, the Water Basins Directorate, and the Central Workshops, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate/Ma'an Governorate Police and the Gendarmerie Forces, seized the violating rig during monitoring patrols conducted on Friday.
The ministry added that technical teams backfilled the illegal well, while the drilling rig was impounded at the Water Authority's Central Workshops Directorate. Official violation reports were filed to complete the investigation, take the necessary legal actions, and enforce the provisions of the law.
